1. Introduction
The Lord Rama Krishna Cultural Centre is a place of worship, culture, and community. We are committed to upholding an environment of respect, harmony, and inclusion. This policy outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all committee members, volunteers, members, and visitors to ensure a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
2. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to:
- Foster an environment of mutual respect and cooperation.
- Ensure that all individuals feel safe, valued, and respected.
- Provide clear guidelines for appropriate behaviour and conduct.
- Outline procedures for addressing inappropriate behaviour.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals involved with the Lord Rama Krishna Cultural Centre, including committee members, volunteers, members, and visitors. It covers behaviour within the Centre’s premises, during Centre-sponsored activities, and in any related communications.
4. Behavioural Standards
All individuals associated with the Centre are expected to:
- Respect Others: Treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.
- Act with Integrity: Conduct themselves honestly and ethically in all interactions.
- Promote Harmony: Foster a sense of community by being supportive, inclusive, and encouraging of others.
- Be Considerate: Respect the beliefs, customs, and traditions of others, particularly during religious activities and events.
- Maintain a Safe Environment: Avoid any behaviour that could cause harm or distress to others, including physical violence, harassment, or intimidation.
- Respect the Premises: Take care of the Centre’s facilities, equipment, and property. Ensure that the premises are kept clean and tidy, and report any damage or hazards immediately.
5. Code of Conduct
To ensure a positive environment, the following specific behaviours are expected:
- Communication: Speak kindly and politely to others. Avoid using offensive, derogatory, or inflammatory language.
- Punctuality: Attend meetings, events, and activities on time. Notify relevant individuals in advance if you are unable to attend.
- Dress Code: Dress modestly and appropriately, particularly during religious services and cultural events.
- Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information or discussions without consent.
- Substance Use: The use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances is strictly prohibited on the premises.
6. Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are considered unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action:
- Harassment and Bullying: Any form of harassment, bullying, or intimidation, whether verbal, physical, or online.
- Discrimination: Discriminatory behaviour based on race, gender, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Violence: Any act of physical violence or aggression.
- Disruption: Disruptive behaviour that interferes with religious services, events, or the peaceful atmosphere of the Centre.
- Theft or Vandalism: Stealing, damaging, or misusing the Centre’s property or the property of others.
7. Reporting and Addressing Issues
Any individual who experiences or witnesses unacceptable behaviour should report it to a committee member or the designated Health and Safety Officer. All reports will be taken seriously and handled with confidentiality.
The committee will investigate any reported incidents and take appropriate action, which may include:
- Mediation and conflict resolution.
- Verbal or written warnings.
- Temporary or permanent exclusion from the Centre.
8. Review and Compliance
This policy will be reviewed annually by the committee to ensure it remains relevant and effective. All individuals involved with the Centre are expected to comply with this policy. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, as outlined above.
